Volunteers Keep Artrix Theatre Alive

Sam Collison, August 2, 2024September 6, 2024

The Artrix Theatre knows the value of its volunteer network and as a result, the venue is able to live on in Bromsgrove, run on a purely voluntary basis. Its future looks bright, with shows and a Christmas pantomime booked through to 2025, which is fantastic news for the arts and the local community.

Helped by a community grant from Worcestershire’s Public Health, the theatre has grown its volunteer network. It now has 90 active volunteers, with a further 45 being trained later this month. Volunteers welcome theatre goers, act as bar staff, ushers, technicians, duty managers, and man the box office. This adds up to 82 hours of volunteer time per show and an average of 168 hours per week! (oh yes it does!)

The impact on the community in Bromsgrove has been significant as volunteering brings people together, improving their health and wellbeing. Volunteers learn new skills, earn valuable work experience, give something back, have improved confidence, a sense of connection to others in the community, and importantly make new friends.

If your keen to play a role in bringing live performances, art exhibitions and cultural events to life and be part of a team, you can contact the Volunteer Team at: volunteer@atrixbromsgrove.co.uk or visit the website: artrixbromsgrove.co.uk/contact/become-a-volunteer/
