A Kidderminster-based charity is making a powerful impact in the Wyre Forest community by offering life-changing support to people facing homelessness and hardship.
H.E.L.P has been a long trusted presence in the community, supporting rough sleepers and those who are vulnerably housed. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the charity provided daily food and emergency outreach to communities at high risk of poor health. Their adapted van delivered hot meals, bedding, and warm clothing, while volunteers—many with lived experience—helped residents secure safe accommodation.
In 2024, H.E.L.P relocated to The Tulip Centre (formerly the AGE UK building), transforming the space into a multi-agency wellbeing hub. This move enabled the charity to expand its reach and offer wraparound support to a wider range of residents—not just those experiencing homelessness.
The Hub now provides a weekly night café serving up to 50 homeless individuals, a warm space and community café, furniture provision, and a pet bank. It also hosts on-site services from Cranstoun (drug and alcohol support), MAGGS (harm reduction), Citizens Advice, and the Your Health Van Team.
To help sustain and grow this vital work, a Public Health community grant was awarded to H.E.L.P. The funding enabled essential upgrades to the building, added much-needed storage, and helped get the charity’s outreach van back on the road—allowing the team to reach individuals who struggle to engage with traditional services.
The grant has also supported the co-location of services, making it easier for residents to access holistic care in one safe, accessible location. Now, individuals can walk into the Hub and receive all the support they need under one roof—driving positive health outcomes for those with the greatest unmet need.
A H.E.L.P volunteer said:
“This grant has been a game-changer. “It’s allowed us to grow, collaborate, and meet people where they are—whether that’s on the street or in the Hub. We’re seeing real change in people’s lives – we are offering dignity, connection and hope.”
This amazing story and video was showcased in our Community Stories 2025 Event, celebrating some of the wonderful grant-funded work of community organisations across Worcestershire.
