Westlands Project Shortlisted for Award

Sam Collison, February 24, 2025February 24, 2025

Our Asset Based Community Development work with the Westlands housing estate has been shortlisted for the LGC Public Health Award.

It all started with a film made with local residents called “We Are Westlands!” (see link below). From there we devolved resources down to a committee of residents and local agencies (such as the school headteacher and partners from the local wellbeing and family hubs, community association, Council, and housing association).

A year later we saw improvements in health and a range of inspiring stories about how lives had changed for the better. No stigma, no tightly managed projects – just improved health outcomes, a Wellbeing Hub saved from closure and a range of inspiring stories of how people used the money to change lives for the better.

Worcestershire County Council Public Health team is truly honoured to be involved in such inspiring work!
