The Ruby Tuesday group is helping to connect people, the old fashioned way! There’s nothing like the excitement of receiving a personalised handwritten letter, especially when you need it most. The Ruby Tuesday group connects residents of all ages to come together at their local café and write letters to those experiencing challenging life situations. Working with local charities the recipients of the letters can be from those in care homes to children in foster care.
The video was produced with the group telling its own story and showcases the strength of community connection and its positive impact on mental health and wellbeing. You will experience Donna’s journey and the stories of local residents Pam and Fred who have experienced the benefits of connecting with their neighbours and the wider community.
The group’s founder Donna worked alongside her local Community builder, Lucy Bird from Droitwich CVS to help establish the letter writing group in the local community. Droitwich CVS is an independent charity that supports, promotes and develops community and voluntary action in the Droitwich Spa area to improve connections & the wellbeing of local people.
Currently funded by Public Health at Worcestershire County Council, in collaboration with District Councils across Worcestershire. Community Builders work in localities across the County to support groups and local people to connect to each other, support their ideas and help with tools to make projects come to life.
