Resistance Bands Boost Strength & Balance

Sam Collison, September 26, 2024September 26, 2024

Meet Mo, Mary, Christine, and Sue from the Corn Dollies Womens Institute (WI), talking in this video about their experiences with resistance bands.

Mo found out about resistance bands through walking netball, and realised they would be helpful for the WI to improve their strength and balance.

Resistance bands are easy to use either seated or standing and can help to build muscle, improve balance, strengthen bones and improve self-esteem and confidence.

Most falls can be prevented and older adults can reduce the risk of falling by maintaining physical activity such as exercising with resistance bands.

Over 50s can pick up a free resistance band and exercise guide from any Worcestershire library. To find out more: www.worcestershire.gov.uk/resistancebands

Healthy Worcestershire sessions, being rolled out across the county, aim to bring people together, get them moving, and support healthy lifestyles and improved wellbeing. The sessions include gentle exercise, often using resistance bands, to improve strength and balance.

If you are looking to join a local group, take part in a healthy activity, or get involved with your local community please find out more at: Healthy Worcestershire (www.healthyworcestershire.org.uk) or telephone 01905 928185
