Himbleton CofE Primary School and Nursery open their new adventure playground and trim trail to help keep pupils active.
Adventure fitness play areas and trim trails are a great way to get children moving, to help develop balance, hand-eye coordination, and physical strength. This new play area at Himbleton CoE Primary School and Nursery will be enjoyed by pupils of all ages and will be open to the wider local community outside of school time.
The project is a shared endeavour funded by a range of local partners including The Ratcliff Foundation, Friends of Himbleton CE Primary School and Nursery, the local Parish Council, West Mercia Police and Crime Commissioner, and Worcestershire County Council’s Public Health grant.
Children joined School Governors and local partners to celebrate the opening of the play area on Monday 17th March, with Head Boy, Toby and Head Girl, Martha showing the younger pupils the ropes!
You can watch this short video to see the project in action:
Headteacher, Kirsty Shaw said “We are really excited to see this new area open for our children. It not only enables them to develop essential skills like balance and coordination, but it also encourages risk taking and helps to foster social connections and wellbeing”.
Councillor David Ross, Cabinet Member with Responsibility for Health and Wellbeing added “The equipment is very impressive and it was so good to see the children enjoying themselves. We are delighted to support the school and local community partners to come together and enable children to increase their confidence, balance skills, and general physical activity”.
