New emergency response vehicle strengthens lifesaving capacity
The new vehicle will support the Vale of Evesham Community First Responders to attend life threatening events across the Vale of Evesham and surrounding areas. The volunteer‑led charity supports West Midlands Ambulance Service by providing immediate care in emergencies, such as cardiac arrests, strokes and road traffic collisions.
As trained responders who live within the communities they serve, they are often able to reach patients quickly and deliver vital early intervention before an ambulance arrives.
Tony Haines, Chair of the Trustees at the Vale of Evesham Community First Responders, said: “We are incredibly grateful for the overwhelming support shown by our community. This vehicle will make a real difference to people’s lives. Every minute counts in a medical emergency, and this investment helps us provide more coverage to the Vale of Evesham and its surrounding villages.”
The new vehicle has been made possible through contributions from residents, local businesses, the Wychavon Rural Fund, Worcestershire County Council’s Public Health team, and county councillors, The John Martins Charity, the Misses Barrie Charitable Trust and Evesham Town Council.
Worcestershire County Council councillors, Councillor Satinder Bell, Councillor Michele Hulme and Councillor Sam Bastow, said: “We are delighted to be able to support this vital, life‑saving charity. The volunteers are amazing and give hundreds of hours of their time each year to provide urgent care to our residents when they need it most. Their commitment, professionalism and community spirit make a real difference across the Vale of Evesham, and we are proud to play a part in helping them continue this essential work.”
In addition to responding to emergencies, the Vale of Evesham Community First Responders provide free CPR training to local groups, helping equip more residents with lifesaving skills.
