National Recognition for Dr Lisa McNally

Kirsty Crawley, November 6, 2024

We’re thrilled to share that our Director of Public Health, Lisa McNally, has been honoured as one of the top three Directors of Public Health in the UK.

She’s been nominated for the prestigious Chief Medical Officer’s (CMO) National Impact Award by the Association of Directors of Public Health (ADPH).

From across the four nations in Great Britain, only three Directors of Public Health have been shortlisted for this recognition, making this a remarkable achievement.

The CMO National Impact Award highlights the significant impact of Directors of Public Health since stepping into their roles. Since joining Worcestershire Public Health in March 2023, Lisa has brought fresh energy, innovation, and a people-cantered approach that’s benefited both our team, health colleagues and local communities.

Lisa is both proud and deeply honoured to be nominated for this award. Reflecting on her nomination, she said, “Being nominated for this award is one of the highlights of my career. But this recognition isn’t just about me; it’s about the incredible team I work with. The progress we’ve made is collective, and this nomination is for all of us.”

Lisa’s philosophy is clear: put people first. She’s committed to building trust with our communities and ensuring they receive the support they genuinely need.

“I’m passionate about ensuring that we build trust with our communities and providing the support they truly need. Public Health should always be about championing residents and delivering services that make a real difference.”

Since joining our team, Lisa has already made an impressive impact, including:

  • developing innovative approaches to reduce health inequalities in local communities;
  • promoting physical activity through initiatives like the Wythall Fun Run and Worcester Junior Park Run; and
  • pioneering a new approach to help adults stay healthier for longer with the Healthy Worcestershire programme.

The ADPH represents Directors of Public Health across Great Britain, championing public health and fostering partnerships that strengthen our sector.
