Worcestershire Public Health is supporting community initiatives for health improvement with small grants supporting different segments of its communities, including women and girls. This sees Public Health collaborating more closely with its residents and the voluntary community sector, investing in local communities.
People living in more deprived areas and those from Black, Asian and minority ethnic groups are more likely to suffer greater health inequalities. Women and girls often face intersecting inequalities which can make it more difficult to be physically active. This could be because of accessibility of women only sessions, cost, transport and childcare.
Only Girls Allowed is a free fitness programme that helps to promote physical wellbeing. Sessions help to alleviate loneliness and low moods, as well as furthering community bonds, social cohesion, and improving mental wellbeing.
Delivered by Worcester Warriors Foundation, Only Girls Allowed aim to improve general wellbeing, cater for different needs, provide measurable and achievable goals for participants but importantly, ensure weekly sports sessions are fun!
