Community Stories 2025 | Winyates community hub is an anchor

Jemma Bufton, October 23, 2025October 23, 2025

Winyates Community Hub is growing its role as a trusted anchor in the community. Nestled in the heart of the Winyates Housing Estate in Redditch, the Hub is a welcoming space where people come to feel seen, heard, and valued.

The Hub offers a wide range of services including wellbeing activities, peer-led support groups, a baby bank, food bank, and crisis café. It also provides vital 1-to-1 support for mental health and domestic abuse, helping individuals and families navigate some of life’s most difficult moments with compassion and care.

Thanks to a Public Health Community Wellbeing grant the Hub is expanding its reach and deepening its impact particularly for groups who often face barriers to accessing support, including lone parents, refugees, asylum seekers, and those struggling with drug and alcohol addictions. It’s also enabled the team to:

  • Build on existing initiatives, take on and upskill volunteers to ensure long-term sustainability
  • Co-produce new services with the community, including a healthy lifestyle programme and additional peer support sessions
  • Strengthen relationships with local partners and residents to create more joined-up, responsive support

Sophie, a volunteer at the Hub said:

“It’s a place where everybody can come and be open, talk about our problems, not feel judged, be completely relaxed and get the support you need. I love it here.”

This inspiring initiative was featured in our Community Stories 2025 Event, celebrating the incredible work of grant-funded organisations across Worcestershire.
