Coffee on the Close | Community Stories

Samantha Roberts, October 11, 2024October 11, 2024

Coffee on the Close

‘Coffee on the Close’ takes place at Pebworth village hall every Wednesday afternoon, encouraging residents to get together, connect over a tea or coffee and catch up on village news.

The weekly session, which welcomes up to 20 regular attendees, also provides a place for villagers to ask for help with daily tasks like gardening or shopping. It’s run solely by volunteers who set up, serve refreshments and provide hot meals in the colder months.

“[It’s about] meeting people rather than sitting at home on your own” says one Coffee on the Close attendee.

Since the group started, they’ve had visits by the local police, fire service and local councillors and lead on to bingo and quiz nights and is much enjoyed by local residents: “[It’s] a good idea, long may it reign.”
