A new wellbeing enrichment project is now underway at Tudor Grange Academy in Redditch thanks to funding provided by a Public Health community wellbeing grant.

Run every Thursday after school, the project offers pupils a choice of clubs designed to boost wellbeing, encourage positive behaviours, and help young people discover new passions.

So far, 54 students have signed up, and the response has been overwhelmingly positive.

The grant has enabled the school to purchase all the necessary equipment to run these sessions effectively, ensuring pupils have access to high-quality resources and experiences.

Each club brings its own unique health benefits:

  • Yoga – Pupils learn techniques to improve flexibility, posture, and balance, while also developing mindfulness and stress management skills. This supports both physical health and emotional wellbeing.
  • Fake Away cooking club -By creating healthy versions of takeaway favourites, pupils gain practical cooking skills and a better understanding of nutrition. This helps them make healthier food choices at home and builds confidence in the kitchen.
  • Allotment club – Gardening encourages physical activity, patience, and responsibility. Pupils learn about food sustainability, enjoy the mental health benefits of being outdoors, and take pride in growing their own produce.
  • School Choir – Singing together boosts mood, reduces stress, and strengthens social connections. Pupils develop confidence, teamwork, and communication skills, while enjoying the emotional lift that comes from music and performance.
  • Shaka ball club – This energetic sport promotes cardiovascular fitness, coordination, and teamwork. It provides a fun way to stay active and encourages pupils to enjoy exercise as part of their weekly routine.
