A new video is shining a spotlight on Stronger for Longer, an innovative partnership programme helping older adults in Worcestershire improve their strength, balance, confidence and independence. Developed by Active Herefordshire & Worcestershire, Worcestershire County Council Public Health and local Primary Care Networks, the programme supports people aged 65+ who may be living with frailty or are at increased risk of falls. Participants take part in a 24-week programme combining strength and balance exercises, practical falls prevention advice, social connection and guest speakers from a range of health and community services. Feedback from participants shows improvements in mobility, confidence and wellbeing, while also helping to reduce social isolation.

The video captures the positive difference the programme is making to people’s lives. Participants describe feeling stronger, more independent and more confident in everyday activities, from using stairs again to getting back behind the wheel. As well as physical benefits, many highlight the friendships and social connections formed through the weekly sessions.
With an ageing population and falls remaining a significant cause of loss of independence, programmes such as Stronger for Longer demonstrate how partnership working can support residents to live well for longer, stay active in their communities and maintain their quality of life.
We’d encourage partners and residents to watch the video and see how a simple combination of movement, practical support and social connection is helping people across Worcestershire age well and thrive.
